Lions is a community service organisation! People join Lions because they want to use their intellect, creativity, commitment and enthusiasm to get things done.
The Manning River Lions Club undertakes the following service projects:
The Hub Markets
Our major fundraising activity is The Hub Markets – held on the third Saturday of every month at the Taree Showgrounds.
You can visit our Hub Markets page by clicking in Service Projects on the menu bar.
The Club mans the football gates at Taree City Bulls home games at Jack Neal Oval as well as the Group 3 Rugby League Football final series for both Junior and Senior groups.
The Manning River Lions Club accepted responsibility to maintain Apex Lookout in November 2013. The popular Apex Lookout is located in Ritchie Cres, Taree.
Work involves mowing lawns, doing edges, maintaining gardens and weed control. Over time the Club hopes to further develop and enhance the lookout.
In 2020 Manning River Lions was fortunate enough to be successful in securing a Government Grant to further improve the grounds. This enabled extensive roadwork to be completed further enhancing this attractive location for the use of both tourists and locals.
Youth of the Year
The Club is pleased to support and participate in the Lions Youth of the Year competition each year. We thank the local high schools for their continued support of this important youth project.
Donations – Disaster Relief
The Manning River Lions Club supports various Lions Australia appeals including the Queensland & Victoria flood appeal (2011), New South Wales Flood Appeal (2012), Tasmanian & New South Wales Bush Fire Appeal (2013), Queensland/Northern NSW Cyclone/Flood Appeal (2017) and numerous fundraising activities for the Drought in 2018.
